Nice work. I made the same vortex. I think mine is a little wider at the cut end but they work great.
 
Nice on the creativity with the bowl. I keep watching for SS scrap to roll my own.
I can smell when anyone in the neighborhood uses lighter fluid to start their charcoal.

Thanks, the bowl was $5 or $6 so i figured if it didn't work, oh well! I picked up the lighter fluid just in case. I didn't want to not have it and need it. I have a Lodge chimney, but that was my first time using that too!
In reality, other than some large steak cooks for football outings, the only time I've used charcoal is for a heater/stove I made for the duck blind lol.
