So, a friend of mine called me up and said he has 2 red oaks he cut down that are 4ft in dia. I can have them if I come over and take them away.

Ive read somewhere about red oak aned cant find it. What yall think???

OAK - Heavy smoke flavor--the Queen of smoking wood. RED OAK is good on ribs, WHITE OAK makes the best coals for longer burning. All oak varieties reported as suitable for smoking. Good with red meat, pork, fish and heavy game.

them are big trees, mebe log em out for lumber-do any woodworking or know someone that does??? there lotsa big limbs for smokin wood, 4 footers=lotsa lumber

Thats about what I read. I also read something about Red producing a very strong taste. I just wanted to read upon it again. I realize oak is oak and a good hardwood.

why use Google when you can use the SMF?????

Oak is a great standard wood for those who use splits, or logs. Its also what most Lump is made from. You better get that wood.
