Our local Ace hardware has a reasonable deal on Smoky Wood Pellets. does anyone have knowledge on the pellet quality and the wood content?
Here in NorCal(Sacramento), we have little option is finding good pellets that are true 100% specified wood for a pellet smoker AND my Amazen pellet tray. I do love the Smokin Pecan Pellets but they are pricey with shipping.
Or any other info on the quality of other brands. 0
Thanks, brian

Sam’s Club has a nice hardwood blend.
Smokehouse is the brand.
Low ash and a good mix
Hickory, Oak, Maple, Cherry mix.
40 lb bag
Reasonably priced below $20. $15 online here in NJ.
Not sure how yur pricing out there
Not to mention they also ship it.
They are made by a company that manufacture most wood pellets.
Forget exactly what company it is?

Never heard of Smokey but if the price is right give them a shot. Never know until you try right?
Yeah, I might... I'm tired of buying "cherry" pellets that are 20%-30% cherry(if that) and the rest being alder since it seems to the the more prevalent filler wood for the West Coast. Don't get me going on 100% cherry when it's only "cherry oil"

Never used the pellets but looks like good reviews.
I am currently using a bag of their wood chunks and like the size and consistency compared to other brands I've used.

I have never used that brand , but I would in a heartbeat . No reason not to , as long as they are all wood . For me , it doesn't need to be all that same species . I mix my pellets anyway .
I recently bought some from a farm store here . Papa's premium . 9 bucks for the 20 lb. bag . Didn't expect much for that money , but some of the best I've used . They're now normal price of $15.00 for 20.
Like said above don't know if you don't try .
I buy pellets for for smoke / flavor , but also some brands as " fuel " . If I have some that don't give as much smoke , I save those to run the back end of a longer cook .

Rural King has had good prices on lumberjack.
The Smokey Woods mesquite-oak blend is really good.

I usually order from Blain's Farm and Fleet, they had a BOGO sale on lumberjack a couple weeks ago so I had twelve 20# bags delivered to my house for less than $78. Keep an eye out for their sales.

That is what I was kind of thinking. Did a google search and AI says this. That being said really haven't had many complaints with Bear Mountain or the Smokehouse

Smokehouse pellets (often found at Sam's Club) and Bear Mountain pellets are functionally identical, as both are manufactured by Lignetics. They are premium, 100% hardwood, low-dust, and low-ash pellets. The primary difference is branding, with Smokehouse often sold in larger, cheaper 40lb bags at Sam's Club, making them a popular value option, while Bear Mountain offers a wider variety of specialized blends

Per DDG AI they are both owned by the private equity firm EagleTree Capital through Lignetics but still operating separately( like LumberJack too ).

Smokin' Pecan has become my go to pellet for pig meat. Another 40# should arrive Monday.

Higher cost but they are denser than wood blend/hardwood pellets. They produce a longer run time compared to a comparable quantity of wood blend pellets.
