Just wondering if anybody has ever used Honey locust wood? Its a good hard wood plenty of it around in my area.

I found an old thread here where one of the folks commenting said locust wood was "nasty."  It isn't apparent if he is talking about honey locust (which produces an edible legume) or black locust (which produces a toxic legume).

I did additional research and folks seem to be in agreement that locust is not a good smoking wood, but is great for home heating and making fence posts!

I don't know of any varieties of locust that are good for smoking.

Black walnut should be fine, though I'd imagine it's a strong flavored wood. Like someone mentioned in that thread that was linked, if the walnut is of any size it'd probably be better sold to a furniture/cabinet maker.
