Hello there.. I've been lurking around this forum for years, I figured it was time to become a member and share a bit. I'm a big fan of BBQ whether Smoking or grilling, Back yard or competition, Hot and fast or Low and Slow. Drums, offsets, direct cookers, gravity fed, kettles, etc... I enjoy, own and use all of them. My belief is BBQ brings people together. Lots of love mixed in with that live fire going on. Anyway I'm here in S.E Oklahoma I appreciate any help along the way and I hope I can be of help along the way for someone else so don't hesitate to reach out. Oh by the way my name Smoking Stix comes from my love of bbq and Cigars so if you enjoy a good cigar feel free to share. :)

Good to see another Okie, where in SE Oklahoma ?

There's a barbecue joint in Idabel, that's caught the attention of Texas Monthly's Daniel Vaughn ......... I'm curious about it

Here's what he says

Idabel

Phat Tabb’s BBQ

Of all the spots on this list, none are closer—physically—to Texas than Phat Tabb’s. Tabb Singleton returned to his hometown of Idabel, Oklahoma, just fifteen minutes from the Red River, after leaving his executive sous chef position in New Orleans. These days he’s smoking enormous spare ribs that have plenty of spice beneath their honey glaze. Slices of fatty brisket and smoked beef sausage are flawless. The chef’s sensibility shows through in the Nashville hot turkey sandwich, which is made with breaded slabs of his sweet tea–brined smoked turkey in a sauce amped up with Korean chile flakes and fish sauce. Look for it and other specials unusual for small-town Oklahoma such as barbecue gyros, smoked chicken tinga, and poke bowls made with cold-smoked tuna.

Pro tip: The white trash potato salad, garnished with Bac-Os, is a tribute to the pitmaster’s humble upbringing.

I have been meaning to make a trip to go try it. I'm in Eufaula about 2 hours north of there. The company I work for actually has a location in Idabel so I really need to get down there.
Where are you at in Ok?

Howdy Smoking Stix Smoking Stix and welcome to the forums!

You've got a lot of cool toys there friend...very nice! I really like the look of that big offset on the knobby tires. Looks like it could be a homemade job? Good work - whoever built it.

I occasionally enjoy a cheap cigar...but I doubt I've ever had a really good one. I like a Swisher Sweet...or a Backwoods sweet aromatic when I play golf. Always liked the smell of those cheap sweet cigars.

BTW We're practically neighbors! I'm about 40 miles east of Tulsa - a little over an hour drive to Eufaula. We still drive through there every once in a while...heading to Durant or McAllister.

Looking forward to seeing some of those cookers at work!
Happy Smokin!

Yeah we live on the lake.

My dream, for a lot of years, has been to get out of this city. I wanted a place on a lake, with a large deck or patio, and I could sit out there and smoke meats and drink beers and watch the water.

And when younger and had more energy than I do now, I loved to bass fish. Fished a lot of tournaments on Eufaula.

But it never worked out to do that. Job, family, wife ............ etc etc
