It's a balmy 43 degrees here in middle Tennessee at 3 in the morning with a high of 63, so I'm considering this the first heat wave of the year. Anyway, to the important stuff. Got this 8 #er loaded with Jeff's rub and the MES30 warmed up to 225 with some hickory. Just hope I do my fellow smokers justice. Only time will tell. Now back off to bed for a few but not with out a little food porn teaser

That'll be some good eatin, ya doing PP with it or somethin else ?? Looks good ! Only advise would be to just not rush it, It'll take some time but when it's done low and slow, dang near melts in your mouth ! Just my 2 cents, keep us posted with Q view.

I'm in! I have a picnic shoulder going as I type and will be inspired by your post!

Just don't be inspired by my foolishness to not have enough Dr Pepper. Good thing the gf is on her way over and can stop and get me more. Safety first.

Har! Is the Dr Pepper for the outside of the pork or the inside of the cook?

I am doing a picnic shoulder (11 pounds) right now. It stalled for a couple of hours 140-150. It ran fine until now and is stalled for an hour and a half at 185. Sigh.

Mine has been stalled at 184 for 2 hours now. The first stall I have noticed. I just went out to check and it's up to 185 so maybe the stall is over. Oh well, got nothing but time.

I hope so. Pulled it at 190 IT. I've seen temps all over the board in my reading up on this that were the temps to pull but most were 190 and above so I just went with it.
