Saturday I am going to be cooking for some family for my son's birthday. I am going to cook burgers and also throw some hot dogs and sausage on as well.

I have always cooked burgers on the gas grill as it is typically just for a few people but since this will be a bigger crowd I am going to do them on the smoker.
I have been looking for a reason to try them that way anyways. Does anyone have any advice or a good recipe to use?
I figure they will take around an hour or maybe a little longer depending on how thick I make the patties.

Have you ever tried to do stuffed burgers wrapped in bacon YUM.

I stuff mine with cheese & sautéed bell peppers with onions. My kid loves them. But you can stuff them with pork or anything else & the bacon sets them off. I do mine at 240 for a few hours. they are always a hit.

I have also found that you smoke them on the grill if you are looking for smoke flavor. Depending on your grill you can put a chunk of wood or some chips in a foil pouch with holes poked in it. or even a smoke tube. I started my smoking with doing it on a gas grill. Now if you want to smoke not for flavor only but also as an excuse to use the smoker then you can do like a reverse sear. smoke for half hour or 45 minutes then sear on the gas grill or the stove top at the end. it will bring out the smoke flavor and be fantastic burgers.
