Philly 'burbs.
I sold my Smokin-it #2 to a friend and replaced it with the #3. I am seasoning it now and still deciding what to do in it first. Looking forward to it. If it anything like my #2 I know it will be killer!

I love it as much as the #2! I have done beef short ribs, butts, salmon, arctic char, and spare ribs with it and it all rocked. I have found that since I use so little wood, just a few ounces, it helps to place it closer to the back end of the wood box to make sure it is used. I also am finding the wood not as consumed as in the #2, but it is just an observation, not a scientific study of wood usage. Still, the food is coming out great and I love the size.I can get whole rib racks on it and full length salmon sides. Wonderful smoker!

The only issue is if he keeps coming out with new cool stuff I am not sue how many friends I can sell my old gear to so I can upgrade :-)

I cannot imagine Steve coming out with a unit larger than the Model 3. It seems pretty good for the price just the way it is. Maybe some new accessories next year.  But we shall wait and see!

Recently returned my MES 40 to Sam's. Multiple problems, and not excited about the quality. Seriously thinking about the #3.

Smoking should be fun, without hassle and failure.  That said, any electric smoker will eventually need repair.  Some will need it sooner rather than later, much later. Smokin-It and the SmokinTex are rather simple analog affairs that according to reviews just chug along cranking out good food without a lot of fan fare. Well, there is fan fare, but it is positive.
