Hi, there - As I am seeking advice in the pellet forum about buying a pellet smoker, I happened across a used Model #1 today for $200. This is very tempting for the quality of the product. The issue? It's from 2014. I would work to get it cheaper, but how long can you expect these things to last?

Thanks!

This is an analog model almost certainly. If so, I'd jump on it. Even if the element burns out, replacements are DIY and readily available from Smokin-It. I've had my #1 probably 8 years, use it frequently, and zero problems. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. You'll be amazed how much you can fit in that small cabinet.

I have a smoke-it #2 that I purchased back when they first came out about that same time. Mine sits outside under a covered area and is still in great shape. It gets used at least once a week on something. Have only replaced the foil in the bottom when it gets dirty. I still have my spare backup heater and analog controller I purchased when it was new, never needing to use them yet. Yes mine has been very reliable and could be cleaned up to look almost new if I was not so lazy.

Buy it, for $200 it is a bargain. I use my #1 frequently instead of my #3 because of the ease of use when cooking small butts or a single rack of ribs.

An element and new analog controller would be a minimal investment for a fix if needed. I would get it.
