I had a Blazin' Grills Grid Iron and had a lot of auger fires with.
None got to the hopper.
I told Tim what I thought the problem was and they eventually modified the firmware (after I sold mine of course).
The shutdown code was keeping the fan going and causing a large fire that got up to the auger.
Once they shutdown the fan, the problem was solved.

$1000 can get you a lot of pellet grill.

I personally have a no name one from the restaurant store but it does have the drop down pellet auger which I'm a fan of.

If you do Sam's club, the members mark smoker is either manufactured or licensed by camp chef, and uses an additional smoke box for "more" smoke flavor. Haven't used it but supposed to be good.

I just use a pellet tube and it helps a lot.

Consider a kamado if you don't need tons of space and want real versatility. They can hold steady temps for 12+ hours with out adding fuel and can run anywhere between 150f to 700f. They smoke brisket, bake bread, make pizza, and grill up anything you want.

Yeah, B bpacilio59 , I will not try to talk you out of buying a pellet grill. Their are so many really good ones out there, RecTec at the top of the heap.
But, seriously, you can't shop for a 'smoker' without thoroughly checking out a Weber Smokey Mountain cooker. They know what they are doing when it comes to backyard bbq. Temperature control is easy and it produces really good results. And they offer the right size for your needs, well under $1,000. Now I know this advice comes from a genuine Weber fanboy so take it for what it is worth.
