With all that has went wrong with moving to KY, I need to get back on tract.

I could have sworn my daughter said 1.66 acre but its 2.66. She said do what i want on the property.

Sooooooooo

I have a few ideas on my smokehouse.

Thought hey self?

Im thinking this corner.
Level it out and use some of the bricks for a solid base?

I have a 20a close by from where a pool used to be.

Maybe gut the snoopy smoker out and put fresh real wood smoke to the bottom?
Or use the 20a power?

Or make something where the old pool was?

Too far far from the house for me, I like mine close to the back door, on the concrete and with a roof, wetbar, kitchenette & potty. And a jammin sound system to anoy the neighors if trhey complain about the smoke. LOL I'd keep the 20Amp, and leave enough room on the concrete slab for a nice pit or so you could build a brick one. LOL... course I have smoked in an old washing machine.

I'd build a smokehouse for real wood if you plan on staying there a while. The snoopy is easy to run with the controls for when you have other things you need to prep or take care of....

Get the drying chamber set up yet? I'll be looking for those pics........

I’d go right there where the electric is. Then I would set up to use both wood and electric. That way you don’t have to baby sit as much. I like options.

Not yet had the chance to get my build going on the chamber, so much going on since we got here.

I agree with the general idea, keep things as close as you safely can. You start lugging 10,20,30 lbs of sausage out that far it gets heavier by the step. Im even regretting putting my prep area in the basement.

My opinion

I dont do hundreds of pounds anymore. Five or 10 max is enuff for us now so any extra steps to hang sausage is a tad more exercise........eh

My MES is right next to the back door , under cover . In the summer months the flies can get pretty thick , and end up in the house .
I like the old pool area with the power near by .

Rick I would put it close enough to the power to use it if and when needed. I started out with an elevated smokehouse fed from something like a modified ugly drum smoker and had problems getting temps where I wanted them and maintaining it. My current smokehouse is set up for propane buy even that has not worked all that well. I would like to go to more like something you are using with a PID controller and maybe oven elements and possibly going 220 with it.
Hopefully you can get it to run the way you want with wood or propane but I would leave the electric option available without to much work just in case.

I was asked ( told ) to be far enough away so that the smell does not come in the house during the summer while all windows are open.
I was showed a few places , But picked one close to house and shop . That way I had power i could just patch to Smokers Shed for lights
and power etc. Plus keep an eye on the building from deck and windows. But that's just me
Where ever you think in bad weather its not too far . Because during a long smoke the weather does change

Yeah i have a lot of options here now. Did the propane on my walkin and then went to a pellet hopper, that held temps pretty good up in PA. Checked the power going to the plug and figures no power, 20a breaker is in the box and flipped on so dont know if there is another power on/off switch somewhere on the line. Since the snoopy is SS and already run by pid i may just build a wood shelter for it. If the power out ther i cant get turned on, i always have a 12/2 100' construction grade ext cord.

That outlet looks like it’s a GFI, so you may check the “breaker” buttons on the face of the outlet they may need reset, or the GFI outlet itself may just be bad. Easy fix if this is the case.

I agree with edge . Did you find it like it is in the picture ? No cover ?
You can figure it out , but I was going to mention the GFCI plug in testers . You can get one on the cheaper side of things at a big box store . Should tell you whats going on .

My Smokers were on my front porch for 12 years.
My Grill is still there, but lonely.
Outside GFCI Outlet right next to it.
