Smoke daddy pellet hopper

I set this unit up on my smoker last year worked pretty good. Used it a few times this year and it seems to be tossing more ash onto the food. The CC is 4 ft high ash will be on the stuff clear at the top. The last time we went to make sticks two weeks ago it wouldn't go over 130 and ash was everywhere. I don't get what's going on work it.
