Got this baby all smoked the other day. Decided to just slice for lunch meat. Kept the bone for soup. Soup is on the stove this morning .

Looks good! Both the ham and the soup!

Ryan

Looks real good to me, I love both!!!

Are those diced potatoes in your soup? If they are I've never seen that.

Point for sure

I'm guessing you are seeing the diced onions before they actually got cooked. Here is my recipe for the soup.

▢2 cups chopped onion
▢1 cup diced carrot (1/4-inch dice)
▢1 cup diced celery (1/4-inch dice)
▢1/4 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt , to taste
▢1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper , plus additional to taste
▢2 cloves garlic , minced
▢1 pound dried split peas , rinsed and sorted
▢1 meaty ham bone
▢1 large bay leaf (or 2 small)
▢2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves , chopped and quantity divided
▢6 cups chicken stock
▢2 cups water
▢1 cup diced ham (1/4-inch dice)
▢Buttery Garlic Croutons , for serving

Thanks, your recipe looks similar to the one my wife uses when she makes it.

Chris

Ya any recipe is just a base so I tend to add things as I go LOL. What ever has been in the fridge for week gets tossed in. The nice part is the dog is even happy as he gets the bone :)
