  1. Carrot and Apple Slaw With Raisins: This is made with carrots, granny smith apples, cilantro, vinegar, and a little yogurt. The acidity of the slaw cuts through the fattiness and heartiness of the brisket, serving as a great complement. Bacon Potato Salad: While this sounds just as rich, if you include some fresh herbs, such as cilantro, as well as some vinegar and sour cream, it will actually accompany the brisket quite nicely. The tanginess of the salad will contrast very well with the heaviness of the brisket

What are your favorite side items for brisket? I'm going with baked beans, cole slaw, and mac and cheese.

I think you can't go wrong with anything suggested.
I always feel like beans are a great addition but we rarely ever have baked beans. It is always a charro, borracho, or ranch style kind of bean... but that is a regional thing. Usually with these kinds of beans you will see Mexican or Spanish rice and often salsa which we all know usually means some kind of tortilla chips lol.

I always love mac'n cheese as a side to any BBQ.
A good Broccoli, Cheese, and Rice casserole is another favorite of mine as a side.

Grilled corn on the cob if you like or off the cob if you want to slice it off into a bowl or something.

I hope this info helps :)

BBQ Beans for Catching Drippings
I'm cheating a good bit here with canned beans
2 cans regular Ranch Beans
2 cans Jalapeno Ranch Beans
1 lrg sweet onion, chopped
1 green Bell Pepper, chopped
1 any color Bell Pepper, chopped
1T Garlic, minced
2C+ Bacon chunks, or any beef/pork trimmings
1T of the brisket Rub
Cook bacon and chop
Saute onions, bell pepper and garlic till onions just start to turn opaque
Add to beans and stir thoroughly
Place beans under BBQ to catch all the delicious drippings

Southwestern Avocado Salad

It's basically a Cowboy Caviar with avocado.
The ingredients remain pretty much the same as always, but no two batches are ever the same.
2 cans Black beans
1 can whole Corn
1 can Rotel
1 can chopped Green chiles
6+ ripe Avocados, cubed
2 Jalapeno chiles, minced
2-3 Bell Peppers, chopped small
1 each red and yellow Onion, chopped small
1C+ Fresh Cilantro, chopped
6-10 cloves Garlic, minced
Juice of 1-2 Limes or Lemons
Salt, Cumin, Cajun spice to taste
Combine everything but avocado and mix well
Season to taste with spices and citrus juice
Now add the avocado and fold it in gently so as not to mash it up
Taste again and add seasoning/juice as desired
Serve as a salad or as a chunky dip with tortilla chips
