Took the day off of work to season my new WSM. It's the 18.5 model. Wife surprised me with it yesterday when I got home from work.

Congratulations on the new smoker. There isn't any real reason to season the WSM. It's made of porcelain so there aren't any factory oils. Just give the grates a good washing and you should be good to go.

Nice congrats on the new rig! I wish I could call my boss and tell him I needed to take the day off so I could season my new smoker

Ok friends, I put two pork butts on the grill for the first smoke on this new pit. One is a boneless one at about 3 lbs but then I swung by my local Hannaford and found some bone in butts for .99 a pound so I picked up a 5 pounder. Seasoned with Grill Mates Memphis seasoning. Debating on whether to foil or leave naked for the entire cook.

Ok temp stayed consistent at 225 to 240 without any adjustments after the initial adjustment. Cooked from 7AM until 3PM for the boneless butt and 430PM for the bone in. Did foil wrap at around 160ish. It was excellent! Still have charcoal left over for the next cook.

I have noticed this charcoal lights quicker and seems to burn more cleaner than Kingsford Blue.

I don't know about lighting quicker, but it DEFINITELY burns cleaner than KBB.

It all looks fantastic! LIKE! Nice inaugural smoke. And leftover charcoal is just one of the bonuses of the WSM.
