Hello all, decided to upgrade to a new smoker. How did y'all season yours? I've heard lard inside and out. Suggestions?

all depends on what type of smoker you have ?

A stick burner you can use oil or lard. gas or electric i would just use cooking spray

It is a stick burner, lard inside and out or just inside. Heard both, didn't quite understand the purpose of the exterior.

I sprayed my stick burner inside, including the grates with Pam. Let it ride for a couple of hours at 300* and then let it cool on its own. I have heard of folks rubbing the outside with cooking oil to protect against rust but it has nothing to do with seasoning.
