Search Link ?

Does anyone know if admin. has ever done any work on trying to make the "Search" link more user friendly......seems like everytime I try and use it, it comes up with no info or says I need more characters in the search or something like that ?

Most searches I have used elsewhere go by a key word and not necessarily a whole phrase or title........

Just thought I'd ask....cuz right now it seems a little useless as is..!!!

I have trouble finding post with the search tool as well. I get that error saying need more characters. Then when you put more in you end up searching through lots of posts that you don't want because it grabs too many posts because of all the extra info you needed to put in there. Others seem to have good luck using it but me not so much. Even when doing the advanced search I still have trouble finding my info without going through lots of posts.

There's not really anything "admin" can do since it's just a limitation of the vBulletin software. The annoying thing is it requires more than three characters for a valid search term which is frustrating for a hobby with so many three letter abbreviations.

Your best bet is Advanced Search with at least a 4 letter search term. Try just searching the Title Only and limit the forums you are searching if you are getting too many results. It is still a crap shoot though.

Have you tried using the Advanced Search feature? You can customize how the search is performed or choose to search by the posters name if you know it.

I've not had any problems with it.

What they both said try the advanced search for it will give you more options to narrow your search down some.
