Very nice! So silver in the lake and deep water. I catch them during rivers runs in Vermilion and they color up to rainbows pretty fast during the spawn. It's my favorite fish to catch. They hit a spinner or spoon like a runaway train. Silver bullets is an appropriate name.
Thanks jcam! Ive never caught one on spinning or flyrod but would love to! The way they freight train a spoon when trolling is awesome to say the least! Can only imagine on lighter tackle! Ive only river fished for them once in the vermilion by the bridge and spill over there in Collins.
What a great trip and made even better with friends and some great fillets. That's 2 fish I've never caught, but would like to one day...
Thanks Smoke! Do yourself a favor and schedule a trip sometime! Youll have a blast and some great meat too! Get ahold of me if you would like some info on charters that run combo trips!

nice trip guys!!!

try this with those fillets. lay skin side down on greased cookie sheet. sprinkle with salt pepper onion garlic, and dill. then coat with brown sugar(plenty so it makes a glaze when melted)and pats of butter on top. toss that in a 400* oven 15-20min till fish just flakes. a plate you mite see in a fancy restaurant with a taste to match!

it is a sweet savory slab of pink meat. a mix we came up with 30yrs ago playing around with tons of pink fillets. it works with all of them too. especially them Coho!!

another thing i love to do with salmon n trout is make mock clam strips. cut fillet into strips and marinade them in soy and oyster sauce. not much just enough to coat them good. set aside for an hour or two in fridge. then take them out and drain but dont rinse! shake the strips in famouse andys red(not Cajun) and fry fast. the meat will cook fast in strips and if you over cook the sugar will burn from the sauce. i dip them in cocktail sauce and get bloated! lol

or check out my smoked bass thread. brine in that and smoke them up! grub!
