Heard it a few times on the TV show King of the Hill and always had me wondering what it's like. Wife picked up a bag of Fritos the other day and we destroyed it so it got me thinking again. We're big fans of chili/tex mex so seems natural the 2 combined would be good. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Your favorite chili on top of Fritos® chips and the other toppings are optional. I like fine shredded cheese and mustard but that's just how we eat it. You can also add pickled jalapeños and a host of other things as well.

When I travel without my wife, this is a common meal in my hotel room. The microwave heats up the chili and you have something really tasty in mere minutes.

She prefers to eat out🤣

You sound like a good candidate for Frito Pie. There is a zillion recipes out there. Ranch Style Beans (also a Texas product) are a good fit.

Yep, chile on Fritos, accept no substitutes.
Garnish any way you please.

I'm not a fan of it in the microwave, I think it makes it taste funny.
I prefer the chile fresh out of the pot, hot enough it melts the cheese... Yep, gotta have cheese, and chopped raw onion with pickled jalapeno slices.

Desperate times call for desperate measures😬

Way way WAY before KotH ever mentioned a Frito Chili Pie with Wolf brand - I was eating it lol. It's gotta be Wolf brand though if it's canned. We couldn't get it here in SC for the first 10 years or so that I lived here, and I missed it.

The can that costs .50$ more (black can - no beans) tastes more like the recipe they used when I was a youngster. I pretty much won't do any other canned chili than Wolf. Hormel tastes like orange snot, I haven't had that sh!t since they started carrying Wolf here.

Layer of chili on bottom, layer of fritos and cheddar cheese, layer of chili and a slice of American cheese and a scant dash of raw finely diced onion. Mustard if I'm in the mood to add a diced up fried Nathan's hot dog in the mix.

Sonic used to make really good ones - that's where I picked up on adding a slice of American.

Little end of the year fair that came though Columbia LA when I was young had the best ones. Foil bag Fritos and they just opened it up and added the chili and cheese. We usually went 2 days and I had a chunk of sugarcane to chew on and a chili pie both days.

I can get it here, too.

How long has it been...

Ahh poor people unite LOL the struggle is real... I also did a lot of Frito pies when I was with the Navy in Pascagoula. I was SOOOOO poor I ate fish sticks at a friend's house like they were the last supper and I 100% HATE seafood of ANY kind lol. We use a casserole dish and did chips on the bottom layered with chili and fresh veggies topped with cheese which was heated to get a crispy texture on top... Sooooo yummy
