Not sure if this fits here, but those that come from OZ will know the term.

A sausage roll down under is sausage mince in some pastry and baked in an oven

Well if yo have a smoker you really do have an out door oven and this little recipe is some thing I cook up regularly as it a favourite with the grand kids.

I have a Weber Q and a    "  Hark "  or "Landman" smoker " as they are sold in the USA.

Any way, You can make any type of sausage mince or mix you like wrap it in puff pastry and set it out on baking paper. I find pre heating to top heat on mine is around the 400 degrees f and just pit them in for 30 to 40 min or when a bit brown on top.

Sausage Rolls On a Webber Baby Q
Filling:

300 gram     Kg Beef mince
100 gram     Kg Sausage mince
1/4                     cup chopped onion
1                  cups WARM water
2               cups Bread crumbs
1/2                    cups shredded carrot
1                     tsp chicken stock powder
1                     tsp black pepper
1                      tsp salt

2                 Table spoons tomato sauce  ( ketchup)

5 sheets Puff pastry

Combine all ingredients mixing well, by hand, with rubber gloves on.

Lay out one sheet of pastry and cut in to two with a knife. Squeeze the filling on in two runs about the diameter of a 20 cent piece.

Then, roll up and cut to size and brush with egg wash.
Place on a tray, seam down and bake at 220°c for 25 Min, in a pre-warmed Webber baby Q set on high.

This mix makes around 26 nice healthy sausage rolls.

this is how the look prepared.

This is the finished article, Nice with a bit of your favourite sauce on top . The call it tomato sauce. as you cans a couple have been sampled.

Those look and sound good! Going to have to try those.

I know sometimes things get lost in translation between cultures so I have a question

By preheating your Weber and then "pit them in for 30 to 40 min or when a bit brown on top".  Are you pre-heating the Weber Q and then turning the flame off and letting the heated chamber do the work for 30 to 40 minutes, or is the tray with the parchment and sausage rolls over full heat for 30 to 40 minutes?  The body of the recipe indicated 200*C (which is roughly 425*F) for 25 minutes in a Weber Q set on high.  The two time references are why I asked.  I would think the bottom of the rolls would tend to get over brown over the direct flames on high.

This looks like a very tasty and easy dish.  I can see these at an upcoming holiday get together for sure.

Now what sort of dipping sauce would go with these......
