The wife hates making them and everyone complains about the kraut smell, but I love these golf ball sized treats!
Like I said, my wife did all of the work, all I did was drink beer and drop them in hot oil! Can't wait till "I'm allowed" to have them again!

Those balls looks great!!! Nice job, and that fryer looks well seasoned.

Point for sure

That's about as clean as I can get it. It's had a walleye or two in it over the years......

I'm with Steve, never heard of them. But I would try them...
You guys gotta try em! There are a bunch of recipes online which I'm sure don't suck. If anyone wants the one my wife used, Holla. I'll sneak into "the drawer " and take a pic of that index card lol!
Basically browned sausage, cream cheese and kraut, egg wash and bread crumbs or whatever you want use. I'm sure there is a bit more to it, but that is her deal, so I don't interfere!

Looks great! Standard fare this time of year. Used to think these were well known and even german. Not so. Pretty much an Ohio thing, came from Akron IIRC.

Steve H Steve H These are STELLAR with homemade kraut! There are a few variations of the meat in the filling. Corned beef, sausage, bacon. Most sausage based recipes use breakfast sausage but would imagine brat would be better. Wife is firmly in the corned beef camp tho... Deep fried reuben ball. These are so common here you can buy them premade at GFS but home made is like 1000x better but most are scared of the breading when can be messy. Also, many recipes might look good on paper but get ruined and disintegrate in the fryer.

Now you really have my attention. I need to try these with corned beef. Thanks for the idea!
