rust

can anyone tell me how to stop rust from comming back on my smoker.I t is mor on the firebox on the off set smoker.I have used a wire brush attached to my drill and primed it and then put high heat spray paint. Any idea is welcomed

I plan to try using coconut oil on mine. I did veg oil once but then I read that it can get rancid. I really liked the look after the oil was applied.

I'd use olive oil, it can withstand a higher heat than veg oil.
