Hi. I wanted to do a brisket with a rub and a marinade. Usually when I use rub on ribs I rub it then fridge it overnight. The brisket marinade says to let it sit overnight in the marinade. I cant soak it in marinade with rub on it overnight. Should I marinade it then put rub on it right before throwing it in the smoker? Or should I rub it overnight then inject the marinade right before cooking?

I have pretty much the same question about brining a chicken. If I brine it overnight then just put rub on it right before putting it in the smoker will I get good flavor from the rub or is it only good if the rub sets on the meat for a long time?

I know I marinaded a brisket in Hickory Allegro over night, then that early morning, added the rub. Worked out great.
