I wanted to use RTD probes over K-type thermocouples. Auber mostly just has RTD probes for brewing/liquid. Anyone know of a good source for RTD probes for a smoker? Some can be really prices, and I've see some OLD (dead) links on other forums, etc referenceing some probes that were supposedly better than Auber's and at significantly cheaper price.... but the links are either dead or to old ebay auctions that are sold out.

I found a couple chinese ones on ebay:

This is the one I got from Amazon, works fine for my Mypin PID.        I think they would sell more of them if they didn't put K type in the description.  BTW,  while is says K type in the heading, it also says RTD, and it is definitely an RTD probe.

It worked fine for my MES 40, so I don't think the length matters,so long as it didn't hit anything

I talked with Auber. A  longer 5" probe that's a skinny 1/8" diameter is good for air temp. If you want use a thicker one, make sure it is shorter.

It takes air longer to change the temperature on a sensor with more mass/metal if that makes sense.

I won't disagree with Auber,  but I recall from reading some info on thermoworks page that the critical issue is the mass of the the probe, but the mass of the  sensor -  for example, the thermopen has a long probe, but towards the end, the probe gets very narrow, and that is where the sensor is.
