We planned to smoke a rack of ribs this weekend. As is often the case, we had a few extra folks going to show up. Last minute and I ran off to Walmart to get another rack. I've had problems with Walmart meats tasting salty. I picked up a Smithfield rack thinking it would be OK. Smoked both racks with some Hickory and Walnut. The Smithfield rack from Walmart was again salty, too salty. Last time for me, even for a last minute I'll drive out of the way to buy meat someplace else. BTW the 1st rack was very good.

Read the fine print real close, I've heard others complain about some Smithfield ribs being "self-basting" with added salt.
That stuff is garbage!

Words to the wise. I know I will certainly be paying a whole lot more attention to labels in the future.

@Flash, Yep I did rinse but if it help I can only image what they would have been like.
