I'm looking to get a reverse flow smoker and was curious what all manufacturers are out there. I'm only familiar with Lang, Bubba Grills and Meadow Creek. Are there any others that I can compare with?

I'm not opposed to building my own, however I have no experience welding and cutting metal. Also, I'm not native to the Atlanta metro area and am not aware of where I can go to gather the parts and supplies to build one. Any help in that regard would also be appreciated.

Ok, so here comes the pep rally!

I had never welded or had any metal fab experience at all...

That being said, I 'audited' the local community college welding class and asked the instructor to show me how this model works cus that is what I can use.

I am now the proud owner of the Beast.  a 500 gal reverse flow trailer mounted smoker with 96000 cubic inches of cooking glory! whew...sorry i got carried away.

I LOVE REVERSE FLOW SMOKERS!

If you are handy and have access to the equipment I highly recommend building one because you will be much more knowledgeable about how and why the thing does what it does.

Aside form that I would keep checking craigs list or the classified here on the site for one that is for sale. That is always a good way to find a gem.

good luck

here is the thread for my build.

King, morning.....  I suppose you have read on the forum that there are manufacturers that build smokers that don't have a clue on "How to build a great smoker"...  Below is a link that allows you to put in dimensions and spits out numbers that are, considered by many, great numbers to build a great smoker.....

Take note of the dimensions and compare with the calculator to help insure you are not getting a smoker built by an "idiot" ...(someone who builds a smoker and has never used it to see if it performs correctly).....   Pit Calc

Smoky Mo!

That is an awesome build! You've got me feeling a little inspired now. I'll have to see if there are any local welding classes that I can audit. I did find that a couple of guys at church can weld, so I may can rely on them. I'm going to have to find out where I can find some barrels and sheet metal to work with.

Thanks!

I had a lang i had to sell because of $ problems but I will say this it put out better bbq then any of the local bbq joints we have around here and that isnt coming from me its coming from people who frequent those establishments. If you can't build your own Lang is a great product you can get and compared to others its great in price.
