I want something reliable and that has a remote. I would really like a dual temp so I can measure both smoker and meat temps. I have read many bad reviews on the Maverick 732 and am skeptical. Does anyone else make a unit that will provide what I am looking for and has been tested by folks on this board?

I really can't afford to buy 5 different units before figuring out what actually works.

Also need it to have good range on the remote as my smoker is about 100 feet from where I hang out during smoking sessions.

Any recommendations?

I have had an ET-73 for about 9 months now and use it every weekend and have never had a problem with it. I know the 73 doesn't have the range you want and the 732 is supposed to be better than the 73 with a much longer range. I read a lot of good stuff on here about the Mav's and there are a lot of people using them.

I am using the 732 and couldn't be happier for the price. Tested it in boiling water and it was dead on.

732 for 6 Months...Only one temporary weird reading, battery low. The only big complaint people make is the probe going bad if it gets wet...Well DUH don't get it Wet!...I would buy another...JJ

Not really a DUH moment when an almost total POS Oregon Scientific remote thermometer has never had a problem with moisture, and I use it when steaming very frequently and have for 5 years, can't do that with the ET-732 that cost over twice as much. So, when I smoke sausages, I use the Maverick, but then on to steaming and I have to use something else. It's ridiculous. They need to get their act together and make some decent probes!!! I use it 3-4 times a week, not just casual use.
Another thing that pisses me off about it is the shortness on the cables, 29 inches, (it does NOT reach outside my smokehouse, yes I know you can order longer ones, but it should come with better ones to begin with, especially at that price) that's extremely irritating, the cables on the OS are much longer, too bad I can't combine the 2 and have a decent thermometer, they're problems are almost exactly the opposite.. Grrrrrrr!!!!!

Somebody PLEASE make a decent (beeping) thermometer!!!!!

Rant off! LOL

Just curious but has anybody tried massaging some High Temp Caulk/Sealant into the last inch of cable going into the probe and sealing the end up? I have not used the MAV in any high Humidity cooks so I never worried abut it...JJ
