As far as I understand <As I don't want to just go and ask> but she had one kidney removed already due to the cancer. The second one has it now as well.

My friend has been battling cancer for roughly half a decade now, and she was due for a kidney transplant, her 4th organ to be removed due to cancer..but due to chemo etc, her heart is to weak and she was deemed a flight ask, she couldn't fly to NYC and has to have the procedures done locally in DC. That is, if they can actually find a specialist to do the procedures.

If any of ya'all are religious, I'd ask you keep her in your prayers, because she's really facing the rock and the hard place here. If the kidney stays, she's a goner..but she was basically told if they do the procedures..she's also a goner.

Thought I'd post an update..

My friend alerted me that today between cancer, chemo, and what ever is going on. <I don't want to go into more personal details> her husband found her unconscious on the floor.

Fortunately, her scope to get checked on blood in urine sample is tommorrow, which dictates the transplant. Fingers crossed and she and her husband are very appreciative of all the prayers!

How sad that gofund me is the American alternative to single payer health care. We currently pay $39 billion per year for our current broken system and still leave millions without vital care. A single payer system would cover everyone and cost $32 billion. No country that went to a single payer system switched back because it didn't work, was too expensive, or they didn't like the way the government ran it. It seems the only reason we don't have it now is our complete lack of faith in our government's ability to actually administer such a program with the horrid dysfunctional government we have now. Working only for the lobbyists and to hell with the citizens.

I know, it astounded me as well..and she's still having to work..despite all this..to afford medical insurance.

Tom , just some FYI . If she has health care through her work , she can not be denied . She would be switched to a COBRA plan . She would have to self pay at a set rate . Also there are disability options . Temporary , or long term .
Just might be worth some looking into .
