We have a Chargriller Akorn Junior. The grill diameter is 14 inches. Unfortunately, the lid is not tall enough to accommodate a beer can chicken. I found a stainless steel bucket with a 12 inch height and a 13 inch top diameter. I can turn the bucket upside down over the chicken with the grill lid up.

Yeah, it's a redneck fix, but it'll work.

Unless you add a rotisserie to your Akorn, your next best option is to spatch-cock that bird. Cooks faster and more even that way anyway.

I'm tthinking that bucket is gonna need some holes for good convection. Looking forward to your adventure and result...JJ

One central 1" hole or 2 opposite side holes should keep air moving...JJ

At $35 for the bucket that’s too expensive to claim a redneck fix. What about remove the grate and suspend the chicken from a pair of metal skewers stuck through it at 90 degrees to each other, then the ends of the skewers will sit on the rim that normally holds the grate.
