Is this a good price, and model?
20260604_130745.jpg

Been keeping nda getting the itch to replace my old Camp Chef pellet pooper. Probably gonna dump my offset smoker as well , as I just don't like tending coals outside in the heat these days, as much as I once did.

Here's a link with better pictures, and description.

Thank you.
Dan.

I’ve never owned Reqtec but I know they are real good ones. The only concern I see is that this grill comes in right with my Yoder 640 in total grill area at 1000sq in. And that’s a lot of real estate to heat up when only cooking a couple racks of ribs or one chunk of meat. It’s real handy though when the kids come home and I need to feed everybody.

I’ve owned my Recteq 700 for about 5 years now. I don’t normally spend that kind of money on myself, but I absolutely love mine! I know that since I bought mine they have redesigned the barrel to make more room for the stuff you put on the top shelf. A top shelf wasn’t standard on my model - you had to buy it as an add on or do an aftermarket installation. They also switched from a stainless steel heat deflector to cast iron since I bought mine. I don’t have kids so I’m usually only cooking for 2, but the extra space would be nice to have for the times when I’m entertaining or multitasking.

I know there has been some discontent with the brand since they were bought out by a private equity firm, but the only complaint I have with mine is the rollerblade wheels are not very durable. I’ve had to replace mine a couple of times. But with the 6-year bumper to bumper warranty it has never been a problem.

I will also add that the price in the picture is less than I paid for mine 5 years ago. Based on my experience I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one, but hopefully mine lasts for a long, long time and that day is way down the road.

And be sure to join their rewards program before you purchase.
Figure you already have but lots of perks.

In 2021, the pellet grill company Recteq partnered with a major growth investment from the private equity firm Norwest Equity Partners (NEP). Many legacy owners note that wait times for customer support and warranty claims have increased, and the highly personalized service from the early days has become more corporate.

Compared to entry-level models (like Traeger or Pit Boss), Recteq remains a favorite for its heavy-duty stainless steel components and ability to hold steady temperatures.

Currently, I would have no problem buying a Recteq, but if it follows other brands that sold out to corporate concerns, they will start cutting corners as dictated by some MBA sitting in an office tower.

I have the Backyard Beast 1200, and as MO Smokeshow noted, the only difference is the extra space on the upper racks.
That appears to be a savings of about $100 on the 1000, though. FWIW, I'm looking at buying a 2nd Recteq for some other needs.

I own a Recteq, I do almost all of my cooking on the top rack. That’s the only thing I would change. It may be a discontinued model, can’t find it on the Recteq site, but the support for it will be there. If this price gets you into it - great. Maybe a couple $ later for a larger top rack.

Tell me more please, Keith, I've never heard of that.
Thanks a bunch.

Thanks, for that!!!
As far as heating up a large barrel, that really doesn't concern me, as I mainly only smoke in the summer, and we are often in the high 90s to over 100, and burning some extra pellets is not a problem.
I'm still on the fence on whether I want this one or not.
I have to measure the space I have in mind to put it on the deck, it will be kinda tight.

Thanks again.
Dan.

Awesome reply, thank you very much.

That sucks, and it is never a good thing.
I really appreciate this type of info.

I thought you were talking about a recteq rewards program. LOL
Yes, I have been an Ace rewards member for many yrs.
I collect coupons like an old lady, as our Ace coupons never expire, they accept the old ones with no problems. When I was remodeling our house, I was at Ace at least twice a day, so I know everyone in the store really well. I've even had a few of the girls over the house for margaritas and hot tubing so they can see the house, yeah, my wife was home. LOL!!!

That was the best move, which often pays off with deeper discounts than the coupons I have.

I'm gonna go measure my deck space, and go check it out again today, just to get out of the house.

Thanks a bunch.
Dan.

Hey Dan, Ive had my RT700 for over a decade. I could not be happier. Works perfectly every time.

I dont agree that the customer service has gone down. Ive reached out to them a couple times and its always best there is.
I asked a question about calibrating probes, they asked for my address and sent two new ones.
Back in the day the heat diffuser was stainless, some warped with no issue and some warped bad causing issues. Mine was the later, they sent a new cast iron one (thats whats in all the new ones now).

1K is a good price. they are 1200 on the rec teq website.

Thanks, Dave, I'm super glad to hear about their C.S. still being top notch. I just measured where my old Camp Chef is sitting, and the R.T. will fit where I want it to go. I have a BBQ store one town over from us, and I'm just waiting for my wife to put her face on so I can go talk with the salesman about a few things, the people working at our Ace, are awesome people, but not very knowledgeable when it comes to smokers. And it gives me an excuse to grab a slice of pizza from my favorite pizza joint in town. LOL!!!
