Love me some mesquite grilled meats, being a Texan and all that...

Why do our friends at RecTec say:

"You should always avoid pellets with real mesquite wood, the growing conditions of mesquite will cause the pellets to contain an unacceptable amount of sand."

I don't get it, where does the sand come from, these trees are growing in sand ??

If they said that Mesquite burns too hot, and could short live the fire pot, I could see that.
Some woods do burn so hot they can short life a non-lined (fire bricked) wood stove.
But to much sand sounds ridiculous to me. That is really grasping at straws.

Excess sand when in contact with molten molasses can cause a fire pot meltdown that, in turn, could cause an interruption of pool activities. Perhaps RecTec should replace the bull horn handles with a set of huge testicles.

Well, they should say to not use Mesquite with sand and molasses in it...:p

If I owned one of those RecTec's, I'd call them up and ask about that policy. At least get an answer from the horses mouth. They must be afraid of the sand turning to glass in the burn pot.

I was up in Washington at the Daughter and SIL visiting and I got a panicked call from my wife, last June.
Seems she was having a family get together and a great nephew dropped a Phew in the spa connected to our pool.
What do we do? Her brother already got the... item... removed from the spa. :emoji_grimacing::emoji_poop::emoji_scream:

Everybody OUT OF THE POOL! (They already were :emoji_scream::emoji_astonished: ) Now super chlorinate, and run it overnight.
The guy at the pool store told her pretty much the same thing, but added no use for 48 hours or more.

Now that.... was a real party pooper. LOL!

(We have come to the conclusion this square peg is the product of a bent sperm and an odd egg... Poor Hunter, 6 years old. Parental skills are non-existent. Teachers fear him.)
