Hello. I am finally entering the world of smoking meat and would like to purchase a electric model for my first smoker. I will mostly be using it to cook for a family of 5, but sometimes up to 12. Also, I am an avid deer hunter and want something I can use to make batches of venison summer sausage and snack sticks, hopefully up to 25lbs worth.

So I have two questions. First, can you recommend me a reliable smoker? Second, what size(cooking capacity) should I be looking for?

Thanks for your time

I have been looking at those and might have settled on a 3D

Terry13111 - You won't go wrong with a smoker from SI.  Budget plays a big part so look over the SI Line carefully.  And get the largest you can afford. The extra real estate is nice when you need it.

I am looking at getting a model 3 and was wondering if the digital model(3D) is worth the extra $200.

The regular version has a +/- of 25 degrees, the digital +/- 3 degrees. I will be using it to make Venison summer sausage, snack sticks and who knows what other roads I might go down with wild game. So basically, will the difference in consistent temperature control matter much for what I want to do?
