After I pay off a few bills, I'm going to get an 18.5 inch WSM. (I smoke for small groups or myself. I can't justify the 22.5, it's just to much for me). Anyway, I'm wondering if they ever go on sale.  I haven't seen them less than $299.00

If they go on sale, maybe I can get one cheaper around christmas but I would hate to wait until then (today is September 13) just to find out that they don't go on sale.

How much did you pay for yours? Due to the size, I'll probably find one locally cause shipping will be expensive.

I havn't seen them go on sale, I paid the $299 including shipping, that was before Amazon started charging sales tax in NY state....NY state simply didn't have enough money to waste as it was!

Amazon still offers free shipping on them....

I have seen them go on sale once in a while on various sites. Aimtofind.com sometimes has them down aroudn $265 with free shipping. Also check and see if you have any local BBQ supply stores that sell them - sometimes those places sell them cheaper.

i got mine for $150 on craigslist.. i would really start looking on there every day...  usually once they pop up on there, they are sold that day...

someone local just tried to sell me an 18.5 inch for $200.00. Its a good price but it looked way to used for my taste.

Yeah craigslist or ebay is your best bet.  I got 4 at the price of $53 ALL NEW, but that was a once in a lifetime deal after HD decided to no longer sell them in stores and put any remaining stock on clearance.  I put 3 of them on Craigslist for $220 and they all sold within 6 hours.  Several people asked to "hold" one, but cash and carry is king.

I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a new 18.5 WSM.  Here in Charlotte, folks don't sell quality smokers/grills.  In the past month, I've seen 2 for sale of Craigslist.  The first is 2 hours away from Charlotte and is being sold for $225.  The second looks heavily used and abused.  The seller didn't even clean the machine and the grates are heavily rusted.  He's selling it for $250.

I don't want something that was abused.  I'm going to just get it, brand new and be done with it.
