Hello all,

My mother-in-law has a friend that is a wood worker and recently used some Cherry and save the shavings from his project for me.

The bag on the left is from the outside of the wood and the bag on the left is from the wood once the outside was removed.

Would it be ok to use these shavings for smoking? As far as i know this is all natural and untreated wood.

Thoughts?

that would work great. the outside needs to be clean. without bugs. the outside will not be as good as the inside. so use caution.

but yes my friend that is smoking wood. remember it needs to be seasoned./dry

Happy smoken.

They will work great but, depending on your smoker, I would make up Foil Pouches of mixed shaving, maybe 4-6 hand fulls each, and just poke a half dozen or so pencil sized holes in them to generate smoke. No need to Soak the chips. Lay the pouch on the edge of the heat source to make smoke...JJ

What a great source of wood ! Only I would not use any that includes bark.

Thanks for your replies. I will give this a try and see how it works.
