Hey all, as some of you know… my daughter had to have a jaw surgery to the extent the jaw on both sides had to be broken and moved forward. It was heartbreaking, but her joints were eroding and no other option… we tried braces but that didn’t work.

She had the surgery March 10… and has been on a liquid diet ever since. Well, Thursday she was cleared to finally eat normal but carefully. While I was working Nic took her out to Mexican food after the appointment.

I asked her the other day what sounded good to eat… she said I’ll get back to you. Ok.

She got back to me a couple hours later and asked for some PP sammies.

My pics are not the best, but had to share as was so good to see her eating normal again.

Here is the PP sammie with some turmeric based slaw I kinda just threw together with the newly found Dukes Mayo.

Was a very rewarding cook as she ate 3 sammies.

Looks great and am glad your daughter is back on regular diet. I feel for her as I was on a liquid diet way back in my high school days for 10 days. I couldn't imagine doing more than a month! I haven't eaten jello since.

Looks good from here . When my Son was a little guy , he wouldn't eat a lot of stuff . Always claimed it was to tough . After a trip to the Dentist , they asked " Does he have trouble chewing food " Long story short , his jaws were lined up backwards ( probably got that from his Mom's side ) they cemented a " spider " in the roof of his mouth . I had to get in there with a wrench and crank this thing out to get his upper jaw to expand over the lower one . After it moved enough , all was good .
Man , glad he didn't have to have surgery like you Daughter . That sounds tough . Glad she's on the mend and eating good .

Don't recall reading about your daughter. Happy things are progressing.
Years ago I worked in big business and it was a common thing for people getting to retire and lose dental insurance to get their teeth fixed. Worked with a guy that needed all of his teeth pulled and go with full dentures. He was in misery for over a month existing only on soup.
My wife & I had a house warming party and I served meatballs simmered in BBQ sauce.
We had lots of leftovers so I brought them in to work. Convinced coworker to give them a try as they were really soft after the BBQ sauce soak. I heard the glug glug of his soup going back in the thermos and saw the biggest plate of meatballs heading to his desk.
Sorry for the long story, but now that daughter has been cleared to eat real food again, meatloaf, fatties, etc. may please her taste.

Friend's son had a similar episode with the jaw expander. We were in Scouting together. Many of the meals the Scouts chose to make were too chewy. He got exempted to eat with the adult leaders which I mostly cooked and was greatly appreciated by all. Old guys don't like chewy food either.

Dentist suggested sending my son to Orthodontic for an overbite issue. Smart wife told him to stuff it and wait a few years for him to mature. Tada, no braces and his bite is fine.

Dang hope things are getting better for your daughter! My son had to widen his pallet, he had to have a spreading device that we twisted every day….it wasn’t fun can only imagine that surgery your daughter went through! On a happy note those PP samiches would be a magic meal after a straw!

This is good news on your daughters ordeal. I can't imagine what she, and you guys watching her go through this.
Glad she is up to solid foods now.
And very nice meal she requested.

Looks great and congrats on the carousal ride.

Justin, Your PP looks great, sorry that your daughter had to go through that ordeal. Good to hear that life is getting better for her.

Sounds like it's been a rough few weeks for your daughter Justin...but sure glad to hear she's doing better! That pulled pork is spot-on, Brother! Very nicely done my friend!
