Watched first episode of Pitmasters and someone made some Puerto Rican beans with squash that sounds delicious. Everyone seemed to love them. Look around web for a recipe and was wonder if anyone have made this or have a recipe?

Something tells me this may be (or maybe a variation of) Puerto Rican beans with calabaza (or pumpkin). A few recipes for that on a web search. Also called Habicuelas Guisadas con Calabaza. Haven't tried this but sounds good.Watched first episode of Pitmasters and someone made some Puerto Rican beans with squash that sounds delicious. Everyone seemed to love them. That is it. Thanks. Getting some good hits on Habicuelas Guisadas. This might work but I am going to try to use dry beans. Might just have to make those first than make recipe with them.Something tells me this may be (or maybe a variation of) Puerto Rican beans with calabaza (or pumpkin). I think it would work great with the canned Eden black soy.Jeff, @jcam222 and Carlo, @tallbm. You have any thoughts of doing this with soy beans? I would rather use dry bean but in this case I guess could try canned?
I think u just make the dry beans 1st with most of the seasonings and things that you dont mind if they disintegrate.Jeff, @jcam222 and Carlo, @tallbm. You have any thoughts of doing this with soy beans? I would rather use dry bean but in this case I guess could try canned?
I have made your bean recipe so many times now. So good.I think u just make the dry beans 1st with most of the seasonings and things that you dont mind if they disintegrate.
Then when those are done you finish out the cook with squash and other things on the stove. Should work well and should also work if you take this approach with the already cooked Eden beans in the can.
