Protective Mat Needed?

I received a MPS for Christmas and am finally going to use it. I plan to use it in my asphalt driveway. With my grill on my deck I have one of these to protect the deck:

Do I need something similar under the smoker?

I don't think you need a mat, but if you want something, maybe an under car pan would work?

Not sure of the footprint of your smoker , but next time you're at Lowes or Home depot , look at the water heater catch pans . They come in different sizes .
