I got my hands on a CI 6 qt pot & a 8” CI skillet. The pot would hold more wood but my thought is to use skillet to get more air around wood. What r you guys thoughts. Thanks for input
 
I think the skillet. Because think how much room a 6 Qt. pot is going to take up.
But if room is not a problem, try both.

I use to use a 1 gallon can in a couple of my home grown smokers. Even a coffee can, back when they were metal (of course).
 
6 qt fits but just barely. Trying out skillet today on ham loaf. Guess see how things go. Worried about wood catching fire though. Only put 1 big chunk in
 
Rings it’s a smoke hollow. I’m going with the pot for long smokes. Well I had to open door to spray ham loaf several times. The 3rd time walked back in garage an looked at digital temp meter over 300. Ran out to see that my single block of wood caught fire. Out goes the skillet
