New to forum, but long time reader. You guys have helped me with plenty of my smoking adventures and I thank you for that!

I have to smoke a couple butts at my cabin this weekend and I'm looking to get some sleep while doing so. It is fishing with the boys weekend which usually includes a good amount of drinking. I really don't really want to get up in the middle of the night or really early in the morning to get them going. There will be 2-3 5-7lb butts. Anyone have any suggestions on technique?

You don’t say when you want to eat or what kind of smoker you’ll be using. Generic advise give yourself 14 hrs to smoke before you want to eat wrap in foil and place in cooler with towels if it gets done early it will still be hot. Option 2 smoke ahead of time vacuum seal and warm in crock pot with water in the bag so it doesn’t dry out more time to drink and fish.

Get a flame boss, temp control and cook while you sleep

Agree with option 2 here. I always bring plenty of frozen pulled pork on our annual guys trip... Most days we struggle to put butter on our toast for breakfast, cooking a butt would be the last thing I want to do. Keep it simple.

Option 3: Cook at 275* to 280* it will take about an hour per pound.

I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker. And I'm hoping to eat at 4 pm

You hit the nail on the head about the toast! hahaha

I agree with the Freezing of the Pulled Pork.
If you're gonna be dragging in those "Huge" PA stocked 10" Trout, you don't want be messing around with a Smoker.
As for getting up early, you're lucky they changed the starting time from 5 AM to 8 AM years ago, when us Old guys were haunting PA Trout Streams!!

Thanks for all the input guys!

The plan:

I'm smoking 3 7#'s tomorrow.
I was going to shred after the rest.
Vacuum pack and throw in the fridge
I also planned on reheating by throwing the packs in a pot of hot water ** Anyone ever tried that ??

What would be the difference between freezing it and just keeping it cold?

I only care about getting enough of those dirt tasting monsters to make smoked fish dip!

Good Point!
You're gonna be eating it this weekend, so just refrigerating it until then will be fine.
And If it's vac packed, a pot of Hot water would do the job.
