Pork Roll (and the last Scallops)

Mrs Bear caught a box of 10 slices of Pork Roll on sale, and brought them home to her Honey “Bear”.

So since I have stayed away from the Pre-sliced Pork Roll in the past, I made a test on these. I used to Fry them all up, and then try to reheat them in various ways, only to find the reheated ones a little dry & very tough. So this time I only fried the amount we were going to eat each time.
At 2 slices per Sammy, this came to 6 slices for our first 3 Sammies & 4 slices for 2 Sammies for me on the second night.
This was a Much better way to do it—They were all nice & Tender!!

BTW: Frying is the only way I’ll prepare Pork Roll, as Grilling dries the slices out too much.

I threw a slice of Cheese with each one the first night, but not the second night. Pork Roll has to be one of the only Sammies I like more without cheese.

I also threw the last 3 Scallops on the plate along with some Dill Pickle Chips.

That last picture is just for those who think there’s no Humidity in Pennsylvania. That condensation is on the outside of my Patio Doors every morning for the last 6 weeks, until about 11 AM, when the Sun burns it off.

Enjoy the Pics,

Bear

4 Slices of Pork Roll Frying. Cuts on edges prevent the slices from cupping & curling:

Just the way I like them:

Melted the Cheese, close 'em up, add the leftover Scallops, and some Dill Pickle Chips:

This picture is for those who think it never gets Humid in PA.
This is what my Windows have looked like nearly every morning for about the last 6 weeks:

Our local weather (WNEP) said our last low humidity and sunny day was on July 15th!!, this was earlier this week...before yesterday which happened to be pretty nice.

The sandwich and scallops look super tasty. I’ve been meaning to buy the taylor pork roll since I saw your posts on it (they sell it here). Gotta put it on the grocery list.

Looks fantastic Bear. I have never seen pork roll before, but the bologna I make I use 100% pork butt. And all of our friends just love it. It has so much more flavor than all beef bologna. So maybe I've been making pork roll & didn't know it. Anyhow another great looking sandwich from the Bear den!!

Never heard of a pork roll, but you made it look good. I could eat a side of scallops every day. Nice meal.

Thank You Jeff !!
I wish those Dang Scallops were a little cheaper, more often!!

Saw an episode of DD&D a couple weeks ago that featured a place reasonably near me that was run by a Jersey native and had pork roll on the menu. I thought this would be my chance to try what Bear had talked about in the past. Alas, I learned that the place had closed since the episode had first aired.

Sooo---- Macungie Surf & Turf ????

Finally got some decent weather now---Sunny here & 72°, with 74% Humidity.

My Bet is that your Bologna is very similar, as I've even Fried some Ring Bologna that was very close to Pork Roll.
LOL---I have a habit of Frying a couple slices of every Ring Bologna I've ever had & some come pretty close.

Bear that looks good. I've never had pork roll before, it looks similar to fried bolonia, which I have had a lot of it's good, but my wife will not eat it.

Thank You Fished!!
Hmmm---Maybe your Mrs will eat Pork Roll---Mrs Bear leaves my Fried Bologna alone, but She likes Pork Roll Sammies!!
