Ok, I thought I would share this left over plate since I haven’t shared it before......

started with some cube pork belly.....

next my wife made up some Korean bulgogi sauce.....onion, garlic, fresh ginger, Asian pear all sautéed

Once this is soft it is blended.....

next she adds ketchup, soy, brown sugar, honey, gochujang and Korean chili flakes.

While this summers the belly cubes are seared....

when nice and seared the sauce is added and low simmered (covered) for an hour

Once the belly is nice and tender it is placed over a bed of jasmine rice and cabbage. It is then dressed with some spicy yum yum, hot sauce, g-onion, and S-seeds.......

Where are you folks buying your pork belly? I don't have a readily available source around me that I'm aware of...

Heck yell that will work for me.

Warren
Warren, its pretty dang tasty stuff for sure!

Costco its a regular stock item in our parts and the local GS. Any local butcher should be able to order some if you ask them.......

Between Columbia and Charleston, SC. As for warehouse stores, Sam's and Costco. Only have a membership to Sam's and they don't have it. Chef's Store and most grocery chains are nearby, but haven't ever seen it at those places, either. Costco may have it, but it's not listed on their website and I don't have access, nobody else carries. I do have a friend at a small butcher shop and I've reached out to him to see what he can get. I'd like to find a reliable, readily available source such as Sam's, Costco, etc.

Do you have a Gordon's Food Supply (GFS) nearby. They carry belly

That's why I asked location, I get mine at a chain of stores in midwest. They never used to carry them but a year or so ago I asked if they could get some... they said it would take a couple weeks. Didn't seem like long till they have them almost all the time. So doesn't hurt to ask, worst they can do is say no.

My buddy at the small butcher shop just let me know that he can get them in 12lb-15lb whole slabs for $4.99/lb. They are uncured, but come in frozen. Seems like a decent price, just not sure about them already being frozen....

As if you need another reason to get one.....this is the send off meal for the 1/2 going in the freezer for later.....

put the two slices in a small fry pan and simmered covered about 20 min with chicken stock, maple syrup, and honey. Set that aside then seared the maters in the same pan the. Followed that with a sunny side egg.....

Our Costco has them at 2.99/lb. You might take a tour to see if yours have them. Crap two belly's would almost pay for your membership....but then again I buy enough from Costco they pay me for my membership and then some.......

Edit....crap everything on the plate is from Costco....eggs, butter, syrup, honey, belly, salt & pepper (including the grinders for them), and maters.....the fork used to eat it was also from Costco....the plate wasn't and knife wasn't .....I made the knife myself and the plate was from World Market........See earn that yearly rebate from them....LOL
