Roger Waters dad was killed in WWII .  A lot of The Wall, and Final Cut is about that loss and the futility of war.

Scott

My dad lost his dad when he was about 18 months old. He was on one of the battleships at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked.

That cover of comfortably numb is terrific!

When my first kid was on the way into this world, I had to go out and get a Cassette of some Floyd for the wife while she was in labor (28hrs) giving birth. Headed to Peaches (music store that had huge album covers on building) which was around corner, picked up dark side & animals and we cranked the volume in a state of the art "birthing room". 1 of 3 rooms to make you feel at home and comfortable.

We saw them a handful of times, with the stadium shows being the best. Timeless music ahead of it time as it's still selling.
Thanks for the flashback of "care free days"!!

Talk about way back machine....I remember Peaches, was in the Old Federated Department store.  Grew up not too far from there.

Bought many 8-tracks (LOL) and then LP's and then Danced to disco in the "Dixie Electric Company"

Learned the hard way not to go to the Animals tour on mind altering Chemicals.

I saw them back in 94 with Gilmour at the helm. By far the best concert I have ever been to. I have all of their albums, even from the Syd Barrett days. There isn't one that I don't like. Makes me think of a different type of smoke than bbq though.

I'm young for Floyd but I especially enjoy the later stuff they did like The Division Bell. That likely has to do with my great admiration of Michael Kamen though who did the orchestration for that album. The Wall is excellent as well. Not a Barrett fan. Waters is very good. David Gilmour is probably my favorite member of Floyd. I enjoyed the albums where he had group control as well as his solo stuff.

I'm new to the forum but came across your thread. I live in a small town with a beautiful 100 year old theatre. Every couple of years a Pink Floyd cover band plays there called "The Machine". Being a Pink Floyd fan, there music is very spot on. After the shows we have a smoke out with plenty of refreshments.

Welcome to Toby Marks World ( Banco de Gaia )  who was heavily influenced by Pink Floyd.

Imaging dancing the night away in a London Club, that's drowning with Happy Smiley people, with awesome light shows and then the night comes to an end and this is the final track.

I've been a keen Fan since the beginning of his career and he deserves to be added to this thread.   I came across him in the Avalon field at Glastonbury Festival 1995,  been hooked ever since.

Here is a Video that I made

And this is a track from 1995 at Glastonbury.

Thanks for those links.  Brings back memories of my youth as well.  Pink Floyd will always be one of the greatest bands to ever grace a stage.
