Sounds strange I know. But is it good.

Start out with browning 2 pounds of thinly sliced sirloin or top round and set aside. Then saute 2 onions, 3 pablano peppers, 2 cans mushrooms, 2 tsp garlic, once softened add a 28 oz can of tomato sauce and add salt and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Then start building the lasagna.

Put a thin layer of the sauce mixture on the bottom of a 6 quart crock pot. Place uncooked lasagna noodles over it. It is ok to break the noodles up to make them fit.
Then layer with 3 slices of provolone cheese, layer of meat, and a few dollops of cheese wiz. Add a layer of sauce on top. Then add noodles and repeat the process.

You get four layers out of this. Cover and put crock pot on high for 4 hours. Hopefully I'll include the money shots tonight.

I’m going to give this a go sometime with zucchini lasagna “noodles”! Sounds great. Bookmarked

Looks great Steve. You had my undivided attention right up the part about cheese whiz. What on God's green earth are you using that stuff for? I need to send you a bunch of the really good stuff that I've been grating up so you'll have some real cheese to use. Outside of that, I love this concept!!

Not a fan of whiz,
Robert

Just what we've always used. Cheese wiz is very common on Philly cheese steak sandwiches.

Hmmm...I guess maybe it's a regional thing like so many other things related to food. I've never seen or heard of it on a Philly cheese steak and I don't know if they even sell the stuff down here. I've never seen it, but in all fairness, I've never looked for it either.

Ive had cheese steaks from a lot of different places. Cheese wiz and provolone. Its almost a rivalry between whats better. The cheese sauce or the provolone.

True. Both are good. But IMHO. Cheese wiz gives it a smoother cheesy texture. That works for me.

Sounds pretty good Steve.
I can't think of Cheese Wiz without thinking of the Blues Brothers.

Money shot. I love this stuff. The Pablanos weren't quite as warm this time. Nothing a touch of red pepper flakes couldn't resolve.

Thanks Travis. If you make it taste the pablano first. I think these were old. And just didn't have the kick I'm used to.
