Phil Harris Dead

Phil Harris one of the captains featured on Deadliest Catch has died due to complications of a stroke. He was the one that smoked cigs like a chimney and went through 38 red bulls in four days once.
RIP Phil, thoughts and prayers to his two boys who I feel like I have watched grow into men on the show.

Red Bull and the cigs, hard to forget that guy, I've read where he was a great guy, way too young to go at 53, RIP Phil, that has to be the highest stress job there is out there,,,

He should have stayed retired . I liked him but knew he was in health trouble by his look under his eyes and al lof that chain smoking . BVut you know he chose that life and died doing what he loved . More power to them all .

Yeah hated to see that!! Last year when he got sick i could relate!! When my wife had our 2nd child she had 2 pulminary imbolisms(blood clot)pass through her lungs, spent 1 day i icu the the next week in hospitial & after that i spent a month at home taking care of her.(had to open her c section up & let heal from inside out) 99% of the women that have these after child birth don't make it, if we'd been home when it happend dhe wouldn't be here today!!!! She deffinatley had someone watching over here!!!!

I heard that last night while sleeping with the news on. I have watched a many an episode of Deadliest Catch and like phil to but he did smoke more then my smoker on the weekends. Now I'm really sorry for the family and his kids were they on board when this happened I know they have been on board alot lately????

Deadliest Catch ... Great show...

Phil Harris ... One of the good guys ...

DSC does a great job on that show, besides showing the grueling work, and extreme hours, there is a huge emphasis on how much $$$$ each boat is making. While it sounds like Alaskan gold jackpots, what isn't revealed is how much some of these guys are in the RED, and close to being out of business. Couple the huge nut these guys have to overcome, with seasonal production highs and lows, equipment failures, and just plain guessing wrong, the pressure has to wear out even the hardiest crabbers.

Something to be said for doing what you love up until your very last day. Hope his boys are coping well.
