I am new at pellet smoking and I have been using the bear mountain pellets. I wanted a more Smokey flavor so I bought B&B hickory from H‑E‑B. I was checking my pellets and noticed a green fiber hanging out of one so I pulled it out of my hopper. Does anyone know what it might be? I also emailed B&B.

Can't say I've ever looked that close at my pellets. Probably something that got into the mix when manufactured. If it's just a one off, I wouldn't sweat it but if the bag were full of pellets like that I would have an issue

Then there's probably a lot more, and I bet it isn't wood. I'd be talking to B&B. I see no reason they wouldn't make it right. Aren't they rebranded bbqr's delight?

So they responded back saying it was a band from the tree bundles. Offered to refund me back a bag
I wouldn't like that at all. so there is plastic in the pellet's that are smoking the meat? Not good. i would try Lumberjack pellets.

I have read about this happening before and I cant recall if it was bear mountain or some other brand.

I was thinking something like that . I use B & B products . Never seen any of that in the pellets ,, never looked , and couldn't see anything that small anyway .
Glad they got back to ya .

I've used nothing but Bbqr's Delight pellets for years, and have never seen anything but good pellets in every bag.
Gary
Not suggesting any lack of quality, just thinking out loud.

Glad they responded and offered to compensate.

Wow you have very good eyes to find that speck, twice.
The green color made me think it was a plastic banding.
It has obviously happened before you to receive that fast a reply.

The bear mountain oak pellet is the only pellet that has a decent flavor to me. The bear mountain hickory has little hickory flavor and more oak and alder to my nose.

I tried a lot of pellets in the hopper and finally went to 1-2 smoke tubes for flavor and the desired thin blue smoke (TBS).
A lot of pellet grill users add a tube or tray to generate more flavor.

Never seen anything like that in my pellets. Hope they can explain it to you

Interesting thanks for letting us know what they said
