Hey gang,

just got a butt put together for superbowl and was excited to find some pecan wood pellets at the store yesterday so picked em up-

i have it rubbed down with jeff's rub and sitting in the fridge right now-

was wondering your guys' thoughts on using pecan wood for my butt?

Thanks,

Alex

Sounds like you are set! Pecan is one of my favorite smoking woods it'll work great for that. Enjoy the game and drop on back with a little play by play of your weekend smoke.

Pecan is one of my most versatile woods I use.

I use Pecan or Apple almost exclusively, and have tried my share of woods as well.

Can't go wrong with Pecan buddy!

Let me know how that goes.

I have never used pecan.  Seems like a fruit wood might be a little lite for a butt unless it is mixed with another wood.  Having said that, our household likes lighter and sweeter smokes.

Can't wait to hear back from you.

Good luck and good smoking.

Yep pecan is great. I use a combination of pecan, oak, & hickory most of the time.
