I have found a new pellet that has me real excited. Beautiful blue smoke on my 10yr old Traeger BBQ075
First of all, this is not a advertisement... I bought them myself and had shipped to me.
They are "Smokin Pecan Pellets" from a company in Texas.
I ordered them directly with a somewhat reasonable price. But after the success, I think they be my new go-to
They ship in a nice 20lb cardboard box with an easy to pour slot on the top, I haven't seen anyone else do that.
Amazon sells them, too but priced 50%-75% higher from a reseller(?).
I do have a few bags of "KnottyWood" Plum and Plum/Almond blend that I have to give a try, and made locally, to me. I bought these at my local Ace Hardware(Emigh's Ace in Sacramento) Hopefully in the next month I'll try them out, now that the weather has finally turn nice, here in NorCal.

Just got done smoking a top round roast using those exact pellets.Been my go-to for a while now.

WOA! those are kinda spendy...

Smokin Pecan Shell pellets have become my #1 go to pellet. I mix them with oak wood chips on a 3/4's - 1/4 blend and they work fine in my Lonestar Grillz 42 x 20 smoker. They put out a nice blue smoke, burn clean and I am not seeing any additional ash. Good aroma when smoking and adds a nice flavor to whatever is on the menu today.

I really like them but they’re expensive and take a while to get delivered in my experience. Save them for special cooks and use lumberjack pecan which are $9.99 for 20 lbs at Rural King for most stuff.

Can you use them in any pellet smoker?

Our Ace in the SF East Bay Area carries them as well, they are my favorite pellets that I've used, as well.

(I love Pecan wood smoke almost as much as I do Oak wood smoke, I use both equally).

Pecan shell pellets are my #1 pellet I use in my tubes. The flavor profile is excellent.

I used to get 25lb boxes of pecan shells from the nut processing plant, talk about amazing flavor. Back then I was smoking on a drum smoker or a Weber Kettle, a few handfuls of the shells in the corner of the coals, and you were in for a treat. I used old soup cans with a few holes drilled into them with the lid still partially attached so I could close it to fill with the shells to toss onto the coals to make smoke bombs.
I sure wish I could still get them, I'll have to look into it.

Smokin' Pecan also sells the cracked shells.

Pecan shell dust burns slowly and thoroughly in tubes, the dust is pretty much all I use these days.

If I can't find some locally, I'm gonna order up a box, thanks for the info.

Sure wish you guys were closer.

I am the benefit provider for several pecan plants in the area and can get a sack full any time. And they provide the sacks 😆
