Bad knees runs in my mother's family. I ignored the signs and pounded them for years.
Been paying the price for about 15 years now. First was orthoscopic surgery to cleanup up some arthritis damage, that made bending my knee very painful

A week ago my right knee had a ruptured Baker's Cyst. Very painful condition. How did I know? Same with left knee around 8 years ago.
Basically with a Baker's Cyst, the fluid in your meniscus (synovial) leaks into a cyst around your knee. For many it just stays that way. For me I've had the cyst rupture (twice). Synovial fluid is not compatible with the muscle tissue it floods into after the cyst ruptures. Did I say painful?
The recovery is relatively fast as the synovial fluid is removed by your lymphatic system

John hope you get to feeling better sooner rather than later.
Having some issues myself but not the knees currently

Thanks Jerry. Worst part is I won't have any scars to compare next we meet.
I'm doing well. Time is my best friend.

Ouch, that sucks, sorry to hear it.

For those whom aren't aware, the really bad thing about a Baker's cyst is that even if they rupture, they tend to recur because the cyst reforms and there is a connection with the joint. It's just like one in the wrist, usually called a 'Bible' cyst in slang. Synovial cysts can be a real hassle. Sorry your dealing with this, @Fueling Around. Hope it settles down quickly.

Continuous pain will wear a person down. Hoping you get the relief you need and wishing you all the best John...

That sounds painful John. Thankfully I was blessed with good knees(so far). The only issue I've ever had was a bout of water on the knee when I was around 10. The doctor draining it with that huge needle scared me more than anything.

Chris

Thanks everyone. I'm getting better every day. Be a month before I get my full range of motion back.
The part I omitted and really sucked was our daughter was down for a Disney visit. I had to time-out for 3 days out of her 4 day pass.

Thanks Doc. A good friend is an ortho so I got some tips including hot packs and stretching.
I already knew that compression socks are your best friend.
OK preaching to the choir, but letting others know the symptoms.
They will never go away due to my osteo arthritis. Body senses inflammation and overproduces synovial fluid to try and compensate. They can occur in any joint, but knees and wrists are more common due to the higher stress from usage. I had a large one in my thumb joint that instead of the Bible treatment got ruptured when I dropped a chisel plow shovel on it. The pressure release was painful, but happy as I got my thumb joint motion back
