Hello,

Being very new to smoking, I first used Kingsford briquette, which was crap due to ash production. I then used cowboy lump charcoal and found it much better due to ash production. I then read the reviews of different charcoal from nakedwiz and was hoping to purchase better charcoal. Checking through stores and online, I found that I could not purchase any decent priced charcoal except the royal oak found at walmart. Using nakedwiz, I read the barcode number and checked the bag.

Problem is that I found the barcode for the Paraguay royal oak lump charcoal which is below average. The bag doesnt indicate it is made in Paraguay. Is this one of the better charcoal of royal oak or the worse ones? I am unsure if I should trust the barcode or the bag. (I think it may have said made in usa, cant remember precisely)

Thanks for any help.

All the RO I have bought from wally world is USA made. usually right around the bar code or on the side of the bad it tells you USA, Brazil, etc.. RO is about the only lump that I use. Most of the other stuff around here is junk. But i also use kingsford blue and at times mix it with lump.

More ash but my WSM doesnt seem to lose anything because of it.

I would not think the Paraguay stuff is worth much but then again I have only used the USA.

Used to see the Paraguay stuff at a local hardware store, it's not as good as the stuff at Walmart, but will work if you are in a bind.
