Folks I ain't here to blame nobody nor am I here ta be critical of anyone. We have a fine neighborhood a friends here, let's hep keep it that way. I've been here for awhile now, gotta alota good friends that I've made here from all over the country an yes even the world. I'd like ta see us all work tagether an keep it that way.

Since I've been here I've never seen a thread locked, til taday. I used to be on another forum, not a smokin one, one on RV'ing, another favorite thin we enjoy, I am rarely there because that forum got ta the point it was no longer an enjoyment but more of a stress inducer. I would hate ta see that happen here.

We are a diverse group a folks here, from those who have very little in the ways of knowledge, means or equipment to those who have years of experince in the smokin craft an a large assortment of equipment. Some of us love ta share that knowledge with the folks who come here ta learn our craft. Yes, many times the same questions get asked time an again, I do not mind hepin these folks out, not everyone has the knowledge er experience to navigate the forums as some of the folks who have been here along time, today is a fast past society (not always a good thin in my book) an they simply don't have time ta look everythin up. Many here are willin ta give out that information to get these folks up an runin in this fine craft. For those who don't wish to answer these folks questions, that is fine, but please let us not fight an insult each other here in our neighborhood, let us take that behind closed doors.

It has to be one of the hardest an least appreciated jobs there is ta be a moderator on a forum, I hate ta think we will make there jobs any harder then they are.

All I'm askin my friends an neighbors tado is treat others how yall would like ta be treated. That is where I'm at, I was new once, although I came here with a fair amount of experience an knowledge from my father an granpa, I've learned alot here from many fine folks who took the time ta hep me out. Over the months, I've learned ta navigate the site better, will hep others do the same.

I've ranted long enough, please, just think about how yer post could be taken by others, I've trimmed mine from time ta time cause I thought I'd be to critical. Were friends here, let us keep it that way an have this stay OUR friendly neighborhood so that others will feel like stayin fer a spell.

Thanks an Good Smokes yall!
Tip.

GREAT POST
Sometimes it's much better to say nothing.
I know there's a LOT of new people here and I am one of them
Truthfully, I've had a little problem navigating the forum.
I'm muddling through it.
I went to roll call on my first or second post.

I do smoke, but not like you fellers.
I'm gonna though.

You just don't say I need a new car and go buy one. You figgur out first what your wants/needs are, try to get what you think will serve your purpose. And DO IT!

Also, it's an ART.

I've had the good fortune to enjoy good 'Q from many regions of the states.

I enjoy the folks and helpful nature of this place.

I honestly haven't seen the search sticky, but I do TRY.

BTW, I got the 5 day, and got Jeff's recipes.

Lookin forward to makin great 'Q.

THANKS to all here for input and help.

Keep her square and on the level.

Well said,I agree 100% and I think everyone here is willing to answer most questions people have.I also think most people get along excellent here compared to alot of other forums.
I've only seen one post where someone gave a hateful answer to a new member, and that was last week I think.

I have regularly read the posting on this site and others for several months now and I just officially joined this site the other day. I have to say there is such a wealth of information here, I would hate to see that lost. I am at a point in my hobby that one forum is just as good as any other. This one seemed to stand above the rest though. If I think this forum is starting to implode on each other, I'd be very disappointed, but it won't hurt my feelings to move on to the next forum. I have also seen that there are a lot of people joining the forum each day and I'm sure they'd agree. Please, I would love to learn from everyone, but I agree with Trav, keep any differences or objections behind closed doors.

I'm looking forward to everyone's support and knowledge. Thanks!

So maybe it's time to move on with this post as well. I completely agree with everything that is written here but it might be best at this point to let it lie, move on, bounce back...
Since the other post is locked, there maybe plenty of folks that don't even know what went on, and it's probably best to let it rest so we don't stir the pot more.
Just my 2 cents...

Trav,

I think I know of the RV forum you speak of as I used to visit there and no longer do as it has no value to me any more due to all the political grandstanding.

I enjoy SMF for the exact reasons you stated and have rarely seen any negative posts. I do understand why some may grow tired of answering repeated questions but that is not unique to this forum. All forums eventually have certain question asked and answered routinely and I don't think suggesting a member try a search is a negative response as they may learn to find info a little faster doing so and may also find info they may not receive in response to their post.

Welcome to the neighborhood all! Lets get smokin!

I too hate to see that dreaded padlock on a thread.

But a request was made and not honored , even if the thread did get back on topic. Tough job moderators have , and I'm sure they don't make those decisions lightly. Sounds like this forum has multiplied it's membership many times over the last couple years. That makes it tough I'm sure , to let things flow and yet keep an even keel at the same time. Good timing to remind everyone , new and old , that POLITE discusion is welcome for all to see AND if, there is an issue with an individual member or post , use the private msg route to speak with that person one on one.

After typing my long winded post and hitting send , I just read CinnamonKCs much better writen post . Wise person that KC is
